Africa’ s complex challenges require us to adopt a new way of teaching, learning and doing.
Interdisciplinary learning and real-world problem solving are key in educating for sustainable development and the relationships between society, ecology and economy.
Who we are
We are a collective of sustainability professionals committed to education that supports the protection of social, ecological and economic systems in Southern Africa.
50% off water saving workshops
Plant the Seed piloted the first water workshop with Groote Schuur High School on the 28th of January 2018. The 3-hour workshop aims to unpack the complexity of systems thinking, map water ecosystems in schools and homes to help find immediate solutions.
Cost: only R60 per learner
The workshop is facilitated using a design approach. Objectives and goals for reduction of water usage are launched in the school with teachers and school governing bodies.
Water saving techniques generated in workshops:
- Use grey water only to flush the toilet.
- Use one toilet per household – flush only when necessary.
- Don’t use water to wash hands
- Don’t use the dishwashing machine.
- Brush your teeth with the tap off.
Get the full package in our new one-day programme – REINVENT – which aims to enlighten young minds around solutions on how to be water and eco-wise and turn trash into treasure.
Our practical approach allows them to get their hands dirty as they learn how to make their homes and schools more sustainable.
